4. Setting the Camera
Select M (Manual) mode on your camera, and set
the desir^ shutter speed (from maximum flash-
synchronized speed to 30 seconds or Bulb). Set
an aperture value for the lens that corresponds to
the Flash Aperture Value set on the flash unit.
* Maximum flash-synchronized shutter speed
vanes according to the camera. Refer to your
camera's instruction manual.
Theeffective range for each flash aperture value is as
follows:

The reflection from the subject illuminated by the
flash is measured by the External Flash Sensor
Window, which automatically shuts off the flash
when the appropriate brightness level has been
reached.
1. Connecting the Synchro Cord 480
Insert the large plug of Synchro Cord 480 into
the PC socket of the flash unit, and the small
plug into the PC socket of the camera.
Connect only the Synchro Cord 480. If the
TTL Shoe Cord E is connected, external
automatic flash exposure control cannot be
performed.
2. Setting the Film Speed (ISO)
Set the film speed on the flash unit by moving
the ISO Film Speed Selector up or down. The
setting range is ISO 25-800.
5. Checking the Flash Exposure
After all camera, lens and flash settings have
been made, make sure that the External Flash
Sensor is aimed at the main subject. After the
Pilot Lamp glows, press it to fire a test flash. If the
Flash Exposure Confirmation Lamp (AUTO
CHECK) lights for about 2 seconds, the flash
exposure should be sufficient. If the Lamp (AUTO
CHECK) does not light, move closer to the subject
or adjust the Flash Aperture Value.
3. Setting the Flash Aperture Value
Set the Flash Aperture Value on the flash unit by
moving the Flash Aperture Selector up or down.
The Flash Aperture Value and the effective
range for the speed of the film in use are
displayed.

1. Branchement du cdble de synchronisation 480
Insyrer la large fiche du cable de synchronisation 480
dans la prise PC du flash et la petite fiche dans la
prise PC de Tappareil photo.
Ne brancher qu'un C^ble de synchronisation 480.
Si un Cable TTL E est raccordy, une commande
automatique d'exposition exteme ne peut ytre
effectuye.
2. Reglage de la sensibility du film (ISO)
Rygler la vitesse du film sur le flash en dypla^ani le
selecteur de vitesse de film ISO vers le haul ou le bas.
La plage de ryglage est ISO 25-800.
3. Reglage de la valeur d'ouverture
Rygler la valeur d'ouverture sur le flash en dypla^ant
Ic selecteur d'ouverture de flash vers le haut ou le
bas. La valeur d'ouverture et la plage effective pour
la vitesse du film utilise sont affichyes.
