Thank you for buying the Canon Speedlite 480 EG.
This is a high-ou^ul grip-type flash unit developed
with enphasis on durability and smooth operation.
• When used together with TTL Shoe Cord E. this
unit enables TTL (through-the-lens) automatic
flash exposure control with EOS series single¬
lens reflex cameras and the T90. It also enables
external automatic flash exposure control with
any camera that has a PC terminal (such as the
Canon F-1) through the use of Synchro Cord 480.
Manual flash exposure control is possible at three
power settings.
• When used with a 35mm camera, the illumination
of Speedlite 480 EG covers the field of view of a
35mm focal length lens at a guide number of 48/
160 (ISO 100, m/ft).
• The 480 EG's angle of coverage increases to
handle lenses as wide as 20mm through the use
of Wide Panel 480 EG-20.
The 480 EG's angle of coverage can also be
reduced for telephoto lenses of 135mm focal
length and longer through use of Tele Panel 480
EG-135. These panels are supplied with the
purchase of Speedlite 480EG.
The Speedlite 480 EG requires an external battery
pack, which must be purchased separately. Canon
recommends Transistor Pack E. Canon does not
recommend the use of Compact Battery Pack E
with Speedlite 480 EG due to insufficient capacity.
Before using Speedlite 480 EG, be sure to read the
User's Manual carefully, and store it safely for
future reference. Explanations of the optional
accessories which can be used are also included.

Tobjcctif) avec Ics appareils reflex mono-objectif de la
s6rie EOS et le T90.11 permet egalement une
commande automatique d'exposition exteme avec
lous les appareils qui sont munis d'une borne PC

synchronisation 480. Une commande manuelle offre
irois niveaux de puissance.
• Lors d'une utilisation avec un appareil 35mm,
r^clairage du Speedlite 480EG couvre le champ d'un
objectif de 35mm avec un nombre-guide de 48/160
(ISO100,ni4)d).
• L'angle couvert par le 480EG augmente en utilisant la
lentille grand-anglaire 480EG-20 pour des objectifs
allant jusqu'^ 20mm.
A I'inverse pour des t616objectifs il peut etre r6duit
gr^ice au t^l^lentille 480EG-135. Ces deux diffuseurs
sont foumis avec le flash Speedlite 480EG.
Le flash Speedlite 480EG n6cessite un bloc d'alimen-
tation exteme. Canon recommande le bloc
d'alimentation TP ^ transistors R Canon d^conseille
d'utiliser le bloc d'alimentation compact E avec le
Speedlite 480EG car sa capacite est insuffisante.
