COPYING TAPES
The following operation is TAPE 1 — TAPE 2 copying. °
TAPE 2 — TAPE 1 copying is not possible.
1. Connect the cassette deck to be used for playback to the TAPE
1/DAT jacks, and the cassette deck for recording to the TAPE 2
jacks.
2. If the TAPE 2 MONITOR switch is ON, press to turn it to OFF.
3. Press the TAPE 1/DAT switch.
© Set the playback deck to the playback mode and simultaneously
set the recording deck to the recording mode.
¢ If the recording cassette deck is equipped with a monitoring
function, the recording can be monitored by pressing the TAPE
2 MONITOR switch to the ON position.
Tape monitoring
When
recording
is performed
on a cassette
deck equipped
with
monitoring function, the recorded sound can be monitored through the
speaker system by pressing the TAPE 2 MONITOR switch. In this case,
both recording and playback connections must be made.
NOTE:
If a two-head open-reel or cassette deck is used, monitoring of the
recorded sound will not be possible, even if the TAPE 2 MONITOR
switch is pressed. It will still be possible, however to listen to the original
program source sound.

Refer to the connection procedures on pages 8, 9, 33 and 34, and the

VCR's
Operating
Instructions
regarding
proper
operation
procedures. Recording can be performed on both VCR 1 and VCR 2.
RECORDING SOUND ON A VIDEO TAPE
1. Connect the VCR to be used for recording.
2. Press the POWER switch to the ON position and turn on the power
to the other components.
3. Use the INPUT SELECTOR switch to select the desired program
source.
© To select a TUNER function, press the desired STATION CALL
switch if the station has been preset. If the desired station has
not been preset, tune in the station using Auto, Manual or Direct
Access tuning.
4. Insert a video cassette for recording into the Hi-Fi VCR and adjust
the recording level.
® Select the line input for VCR.
* For details, consult the Operating Instructions for the Hi-Fi VCR
used.
5. Start the program source and set the VCR to the recording mode.
¢ The volume, balance, and tone controls have no effect on the
recording.
About Video Recording and Video Copying
© You cannot record on VCR 2 if the VCR 1 REC SEL switch is set to
VCR 2 > VCR 1.
¢ VCR 1 can record a stereo program source in stereo by setting the
VCR 1 mode switch accordingly.
© If your VCR 1 component can record in stereo and the source signal
is also in stereo, then set VCR 1 MODE switch accordingly.
