5.4.4 Transferring under Obstructions:
To cross under an obstruction, the use of a secondary device or system must be used to maintain
100% fall protection tie-off. A secondary work positioning rope device is the recommended and most
efficient way to meet this requirement.
1. Climb down and position the WPFRD a few inches above the obstruction. Make sure to leave
space to install the secondary rope below the WPFRD.
2. Pass the secondary rope above the obstruction and below the WPFRD as shown in Figure 22
below.

3. Disconnect the WPFRD and pass it down through the secondary rope. Reconnect the WPFRD back
around the pole below the obstruction as shown in Figure 23 above.
4. Remove the secondary rope and continue your descent.
5.5 Left-Handed Reconfiguration
1. Lay the device out on a flat surface, oriented as shown below in Figure 24.
