13. Procedure in case
of malfunctions
For information about troubleshooting, please refer to
the attached operating manual issued by the calliper
gauge manufacturer. If there are any inconsistencies in
the functioning or visual appearance, follow the specifi-
cations in the operating manual issued by the calliper
gauge manufacturer.
Note: For certain types of calliper gauge and sets, no
operating manual from the calliper gauge manufacturer
is attached.
Changing the battery
If the display, despite moving the slider (auto ON/OFF),
no longer shows any values or the battery symbol,
Fig. 8, is visible, change the calliper gauge's battery.
To do so, follow the procedure in Section 10.

Error display
If the calliper gauge is moved too quickly or in case of
severe contamination, "Err" may be shown on the dis-
play, Fig. 9. To rectify this error, the calliper gauge must
be zeroed in accordance with Section 5 ("RESET"). If the
error reappears despite operating the slider carefully, the
measuring instrument should be cleaned according to
Section 10.

Locked display
If the display shows no values, but instead the lock
symbol and "Loc" (Fig. 10), the device must be
unlocked in accordance with Section 5.

14. Disposal

This device contains a non-rechargeable battery. If the
battery is dead, don't dispose of it in the household
waste! Old batteries may contain harmful substances that
can damage the environment and health. Please return
the batteries/rechargeable batteries to the retailer or to
municipal recycling centres. Please throw only dischar-
ged batteries into the provided containers and tape off the
poles on lithium batteries. Removing the battery is descri-
bed in the operating instructions for the device. All batte-
ries are recycled. Valuable raw materials such as iron,
zinc and nickel can be re-used. Battery recycling helps
to protect the environment.
Old electrical devices of type 16 ER, which we put into
circulation after 23rd March 2006, can be handed back to
us. We will dispose of these devices in an environmental-
ly friendly manner. The EU directives 2002/95/EC RoHS
and 2002/96/EC WEEE and ElektroG (German Electrical
and Electronic Equipment Act) apply in this case.
