Malfunction
The temperature exceeds the
temperature adjusted at the control
thermostat.
The temperature is below the
temperature adjusted at the control
thermostat.
The temperature (adjusted at the
control thermostat) varies.
Leakage at the connection between
the hydraulic controller and valve or
control thermostat.

Possible reasons
Control thermostat defective
Foreign particles blocking the valve
plug
Valve trim is worn out.
Valve too large for control task
Sensor is installed incorrectly.
Insufficient heating energy available
Strainer blocked
The valve is not installed in the
direction indicated by the arrow.
A safety device (e.g. STL etc.) has
been triggered.
Valve too small for control task
The valve is jammed.
Hydraulic controller jammed.
Valve too large for control task
The valve is not installed in the
direction indicated by the arrow.
Sensor is installed incorrectly.
Increased friction, e.g. due to
foreign particles between seat and
plug or in the stem guide on the
bonnet.
Seal is defective
Recommended action
Î Replace the control thermostat.
Î Remove foreign particles.
Î Replace damaged parts.
Î Replace damaged parts.
Î Check the sizing.
Î Check the installation of the control
thermostat (see section 5.2.2).
Î Draw up an energy balance.
Î Drain and clean filter of the
strainer.
Î Remove the valve and install it
again in the direction indicated by
the arrow.
Î Check plant. Unlock safety device
or replace it.
Î Check the sizing.
Î Replace both seat and plug if one
of them is damaged or order a
new valve.
Î Replace the hydraulic controller.
Î Check the sizing.
Î Remove the valve and install it
