3.1 Connecting to the PG/PC
EXPLOSION HAZARD
DO NOT OPEN WHEN ENERGIZED.
Ambient temperature in the hazardous area
At an ambient temperature of ≥ 60 °C, use heat-resistant cables designed for an ambient
temperature at least 20 °C higher.
The cable entries used on the enclosure must comply with the IP degree of protection
required by EN IEC / IEC 600079-0, GB 3836.1.
Unsuitable cables or connectors
Risk of explosion in hazardous areas
• Only use connectors that meet the requirements of the relevant type of protection.
• If necessary, tighten the connector screw connections, device fastening screws,
• Close unused cable openings for electrical connections.
• Check the cables for a tight fit after installation.
Unprotected cable ends
Risk of explosion in hazardous areas through unprotected cable ends.
• Protect unused cable ends according to IEC/EN 60079-14.
Lack of equipotential bonding
If there is no equipotential bonding in hazardous areas, there is a risk of explosion due to
equalizing current or ignition sparks.
• Ensure that equipotential bonding is available for the device.
Improper installation of shielded cables
There is a risk of explosion due to equalizing currents between the hazardous area and the
non-hazardous area.
• Shielded cables that cross hazardous areas should be grounded at one end only.
• You must lay a potential equalization conductor with grounding at both ends.
