Working Principle
Astable multivibrators are commonly used type of relaxation oscillator. An
astable multivibrator has no stable states thus the output alternates from
low voltage to high voltage. A simple and low-cost multivibrator can be
built using two BJTs, resistors and capacitors, which operates by alternately
turning on and off each transistor. The timing of the cycle is determined
by the values of the capacitor and resistors in the circuit. By putting LEDs
in the current path of charging and discharging will see the two LEDs flash
alternatively.
