FiberOptic Converters
Quick Installation Guide
This quick installation guide provides instructions for installing a FiberOptic
Converter.
1-1 Introducing the FiberOptic Converter
The FiberOptic Converters are used to convert Fast Ethernet
100Base-TX to fiber optic 100Base-FX network connection. The
Converters can be used as a stand-alone unit or as a slide-in module
to the 19" converter rack (up to 10 units) for use at a central wiring
closet. The following models are available:
• FiberOptic Converter-ST (multi-mode)
• FiberOptic Converter-SC (multi-mode)
Feature/Specifications
• Standards: IEEE 802.3u Fast Ethernet 100Base-TX /FX
• Connectors:
UTP port: RJ-45
Fiber optic port: ST or SC, 1300nm
• Cable:
Fiber optic: 50/125, 62.5/125 or 100/140 µm (multi-mode)
UTP: Category 5 UTP
• Data Transfer Rate:
Half-duplex: up to 100Mbps; Full-duplex: up to 200Mbps
• Cable Connection Parameters: 100Base-TX/FX (multi-mode)
network allows 512-bit time delay between any two node
stations in a collision domain. The overall bit-time of TP/Fiber
wires and devices must be within 512 bit in a segment. You
may use a switch to break up collision domain and extend the
cabling distance.
