Introduction

The MH-56 is used to recharge Nikon EN-EL7 rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. Before use, read the warnings and other information in this manual and in the documentation provided with the battery.

To ensure proper operation, read this manual thoroughly before using this product. After reading, be sure to keep it where it will be read by all those who use the product.

Precautions for Use: MH-56 Battery Charger

The Nikon MH-56 can be used to recharge Nikon EN-EL7 rechargeable lithium-ion batteries only. Do not at tempt to recharge any other batteries with the MH-56.

  • When recharging, the ambient temperature should be in the vicinity of 5–35ºC (41–95ºF).
  • Do not use this product with non-compatible batteries.
  • Remove the power cable from the power outlet when not in use.
  • The CHARGE lamp must be uppermost when the charger is in use.

Precautions for Use: Nikon EN-EL7 Rechargeable Li-ion Batteries

  • Before using the product for the first time, or before using the product following an extended period of disuse, recharge the battery with the MH-56 Battery charger.
  • When recharging the battery, the ambient temperature should be be-tween 0–40°C (32–104°F) or the battery may not fully charge or may not function properly.
  • The internal temperature of the bat tery may rise while the battery is in use. Attempting to recharge the battery while the internal temperature is elevated could affect battery performance, and the bat tery may not charge or may charge only partially. Wait for the battery to cool before charging.
  • Do not attempt to recharge a fully-charged battery. Failure to observe this precaution will result in reduced battery performance.
  • Should you notice smoke or an unusual smell coming from the charger, unplug it, taking care to avoid burns. Take the charger to a Nikon representative for inspection.
  • The external appearance of the EN-EL7 may differ slightly from that shown in the illustrations.

  1. Plug the power cable into the battery charger (Figure 2-a).
  2. Plug the power cable into a power outlet (Figure 2-b). The CHARGE lamp will start to glow (Figure 2-c).
  3. Place a Nikon EN-EL7 battery in the battery bay (Figure 3-a). The CHARGE lamp will start to blink (Figure 3-b). Charging is complete when the CHARGE lamp stops blinking (Figure 3-c).
  4. Once charging is complete, remove the EN-EL7 (Figure 3-d) and unplug the power cable from the power source.

  • Operating temperature range exceeded: Use the charger in side the designated temperature range (0–40°C / 32– 104°F).
