9. APPLICATION EXAMPLE – SYNCHRONOUS BOOST CONVERTER
This section shows how to set up the SpeedVal Kit platform to run as a synchronous boost converter.
Figure 47 shows the SpeedVal Kit platform outfitted with the optional control board to supply the PWM
pulses and the buck/boost filter board. An external function generator could have been used instead of
the control board.
Table 8 shows the parameters for the test. The load for this test was a combination of an electronic and
resistive load. It is advised to always include some fixed resistive load when running in boost
configurations. This prevents the output voltage from increasing to dangerous levels if an
electronic load were to shut off unexpectedly.
