Application
This product information refers to the 7XV5662 devices of the
SIPROTEC accessories family. The devices are provided for
applications in power-supply companies. They provide the following
features:
Serial data exchange between 2 protection devices
Usage of a communication network
Synchronous or asynchronous data transmission – depending
on the device type
Connection via interface-free optical fibres
Output of a "Device OK" indication (Life Contact)
Two 7XV5662 devices are necessary for the communication
between 2 protection devices. Both 7XV5662 devices work as a
communication converter. Only 7XV5662 devices with the same
MLFB are compatible with each other.
The respective device manual contains more detailed information,
for example, on the following topics:
User information, ordering information, device design (mechanical,
electrical), installation and commissioning, interfaces, display and
operation, detailed technical data, failure search and restoration.

Installation Requirements

Only mount the device indoors.
Mount the device in a dry, dirt-free and vibration-free location.
Mount the device in an environment so that it is not exposed
to condensation, direct sunlight or extreme temperature
changes during operation.
Separate field wires from other circuits.
To guarantee an interference-free signal transmission from a
protection device in an environment with increased EMC
requirement, mount the device at the shortest distance to the
communication-network connection (DCE, multiplexer).
Storage
Only store devices on which you have carried out an incoming
inspection, thus ensuring that the warranty remains valid.
Store the device in a dry and clean location.
The relative air humidity must not lead to condensation or ice
formation.
To avoid premature aging of the electrolytic capacitors, store
the device within the recommended temperature range of
+ 10 °C to + 35 °C (+ 50 °F to + 95 °F).
If the device is stored for an extended period of time, Siemens
recommends connecting the device to the supply voltage for 1
or 2 days once a year to reform the electrolytic capacitors in
the device. This procedure should also be carried out before
operating the device.
For reshipment, Siemens recommends using the original
transport packaging of the devices. If you use another
packaging, make sure that the packaging meets the
requirements concerning the stress during transport according
to the requirements of standard ISO 2248. The storage
packing of the individual devices is not adequate for transport
purposes.
Unpacking a Device
Devices are tested prior to delivery. Devices are packed on site in a
way that meets the requirements of standard ISO 2248.
Check the packing for external transport damage. Damaged
packing may indicate that the devices inside have also
sustained damage.
Unpack devices carefully; do not use force.
Visually check the devices to ensure that they are in perfect
mechanical condition.
Check the contents of the package against the delivery note to
make sure that everything is complete.
Keep the packing in case the devices must be stored or
transported elsewhere.
Return damaged devices to the manufacturer, stating the
defect.
Mounting
Ground the equipment at the protective grounding terminal
before any connection is made. The conductor cross-section
has to be at least 4 mm
2
. Ring-type lugs have to be used. The
torque for the M4 grounding screw has to be 1,2 Nm.
Mount the device on a DIN rail that is specified in the standard
IEC 60715-TH35-7,5.
Pull down the release device at the snap-on clip and hold it in
this position.
Slide the device with the guiding of the snap-on clip onto one
side of the DIN rail and then to the desired position.
Release the release device.
If you want to change the height setting of the snap-on clip,
lever the release device out of its guiding and move the
