Use the four-way controller (2345) to select the
position you want to focus on.

Press the 4 button.
The focusing area is fixed and the camera returns to capture status.

Selecting the Autofocus Settings

You can set the autofocus area and focusing method.

Press the 3 button in A mode.
The [A Rec. Mode] menu appears.

Use the four-way controller (23) to select [=
Setting].

Press the four-way controller (5).
The [AF Setting] screen appears.
To Change the Focusing Area (AF Area)
When = (Standard), q (Macro) or I (1cm Macro) is selected as the
focus mode, you can change the autofocus area (Focusing Area).

Press the four-way controller (5).
A pull-down menu appears.
The camera measures a wide area in the center of the monitor
(within the focusing area) and focuses on the nearest subject.
The camera measures a narrow area in the center of the monitor
(the spot focusing area) making easier for you to focus on a
specific subject.
The camera continues to focus on the moving subject while you
are pressing the shutter release button halfway.
