If torque converter is not completely inserted, distance is approx‐
imately 11 mm.
– Before guiding engine and transmission together, rotate
torque converter and drive plate so that holes for the bolts are
same height as opening for removed starter -1-.
Caution
Risk of destroying automatic transmission.
♦ Keep checking whether the torque converter behind the
drive plate can be turned before and during tightening of
the bolts at engine/transmission connection. If the torque
converter cannot be turned, it must be assumed that it is
inserted incorrectly.
♦ Only secure torque converter to drive plate with new orig‐
inal bolts.
– Install the generator. Refer to ⇒ Electrical Equipment; Rep.
Gr. 27 ; Generator .
– Tighten the transmission to the engine.
– Tighten the torque converter. Refer to ⇒ Automatic Trans‐
mission; Rep. Gr. 37 ; Torque Converter .
The rest of the installation is performed in reverse order of re‐
moval, noting the following.
– Install the starter. Refer to ⇒ Electrical Equipment; Rep. Gr.
27 ; Starter .
– Attach the right coolant pipe to the transmission. Refer to
"3.9 Right Coolant Pipe on Transmission, Removing and In‐
stalling", page 206 .
– Install the left rear coolant pipes on the transmission. Refer to
⇒ "3.7 Left Rear Coolant Pipes on Transmission, Removing
and Installing", page 204
– Install the ATF wires. Refer to ⇒ Automatic Transmission;
Rep. Gr. 37 ; Electrical and Electronic Components and Com‐
ponent Locations .
– Attach the front driveshaft to the transfer case. Refer to ⇒
Transfer Case 0BU, Front Final Drive 0BM, 0C1 and 0BN,
Rear Final Drive 0BP; Rep. Gr. 39 ; Front Driveshaft; Front
Driveshaft, Removing and Installing .
– Lift the engine/transmission assembly with the Scissor Lift Ta‐
ble - VAS6131A- .
