So an accumulator loaded with 80% will take a long time until charging is finished
because only a small trickle current will flow.
If an accumulator reaches approx. 80% of his capacity a part of the charging current
is transformed into heat. Thereby the accumulator can warm up.
Discharge time is also very short. Discharging time for accumulators up to 2000 mAh
reaches from 1 hour up to 3 hours at automatic mode and will take 60 minits up to
150 minits at manual mode. For accumulators with 6000 mAh discharge will take up
to 10 hours at automatic mode and up to 8 hours at manual mode. The real dischar-
ging times can also differ as the accumulator defines it by himself.
Note that accumulators with a small capacity (smaller than 200 mAh) won't reach the
stated capacity at discharge especially with automatic mode. Reason for this is the
fact that the capacity which can be taken out strongly depends on the discharge cur-
rent and nearly half of the capacity is discharged with a very high current.
Accumulator data:
Capacity charged into the accumulator (C) and discharged from the accumulator (D)
is separately shown in mAh. At program Cycle and Alive old data are cleared as soon
as they are charged or discharged again. Capacity of Trickle won't be computed,
added or shown.

4. Operation

Remove all accumulators (if there are one inside), plug in the unit and switch it on.
For about 2 seconds you will see:
„ CHARGE MANAGER „
„================"
„SELFTEST RUNNING"
During that time a selftest is running and the unit checks all four slots whether there
are accumulators inserted or not. This is necessary for memory backup (saving all
data during power failure).
To charge up goldcap to maximum let the unit switched on for minimum of 2 hours.
This goldcap makes data retention possible for 24 hours at power failure or if the unit
is switched off. Of course the charger can be used during that time.

Without any inserted accumulators appears:
„ CHARGE MANAGER „
„================"
„1:—-
3:—- „
„2:—-
4:—- „
These strokes (—-) means that there is no accumulator in the slot.
If there is no accumulator connected to the charging unit the function key has no
meaning (nothing will happen when pressing it).
Now insert an accumulator e.g. into slot 1. The charging unit recognizes the accu-
mulator and starts up accumulator settings.
First the charge mode has to be selected. You can choose between automatic mode
(AUTO) and manual mode (MANUAL).
At automatic mode value of current is adapted automatically to the condition of the
accumulator. At manual mode charge and discharge current are set indirectly by the
selected range of capacity. Note that time needed at charge and discharge are lon-
ger at automatic mode:
„ ACCU- SETTINGS „
„================"
„1: SET AUTO/MAN"
„ > AUTOMATIC „
During blinking of the cursor you have 3 seconds of time to select the mode. Press
the function key to change to manual mode:
„ ACCU- SETTINGS „
„================"
„1: SET AUTO/MAN"
„ > MANUAL
If you don't press the key (or press it two times) automatic mode is getting started.
At manual mode the range of capacity has to be selected which is printed on the
accumulator:
„ ACCU- SETTINGS „
„================"
„1: SET CAPACITY"
„> 100- 200 mAh"
