It is not allowed to connect power supplies and charging units to persons or animals.
When operating the unit pay attention to sufficient ventilation. Never cover the venti-
lating slots. Never place the unit on tableclothes or on carpets! Place the unit on a
hard and flame resistant base. Make sure good ventilation of the unit is possible.
Cooling of the unit is mainly achieved by two fans which are running during charge
and discharge and at stand-by every 30 minits for a short time too.
Attention:
If any accumulator inserted is charged or discharged easy to
recognize by the flowing current „I" both fans must run. Running
fans are audible quite good. If these fans are not running switch
off immediately and secure against unintentional use!
Respectable manufacturers recommend an ambient temperature of 20°C when ope-
rating a charger. Avoid direct sunlight.
Do not operate charging units without supervision.
For work under voltage only approved tools may be used.
If there are doubts whether a safe usage is still possible the charging unit has to be
put out of operation and secured against unintentional use.
It must be supposed that a safe usage is no longer possible
- if the charging unit shows visible damage
- if the station does not work
- after longterm storage under unfavourable conditions
- after transport stress.
A damaged power cord may only be replaced by skilled peronell.
Use the unit only in dry and closed rooms.
The unit may only operate within an ambient temperature of 0°C to 40°C.
Pay attention to right polarity when inserting accumulators.
The unit is protected against short circuit.

3. Features

This is a charging unit for nickel-cadmium and nickel-metal-hydride accumulators of
size mono (UM1/D), baby (UM2/C), mignon (UM3/AA), micro (UM4/AAA) and lady
(UM5/N). Up to four different accumulators can be charged at the same time.
The accumulators may only be inserted into the unit. Without any settings batteries
are charged with automatic mode.
Charging is controlled by a microcomputer and charges up the accumulator to
100%. 100% means 115% of the stated capacity in case of new accumulators and
below 100% of the stated capacity in case of older accumulators.
It is possible that the discharge capacity don't reach 100%. However, this discharge
value must be higher than 80%. If he is smaller the accumulator is faulty (test with
ALIVE- program).
No overcharging is possible, therefore the longest life for the accumulators can be
reached.
Predischarge is not necessary before charging. The accumulator is charged to the
present possible 100%.
Charge and discharge cycle is independent of the charging state and the temperatu-
re of the accumulator.
The charge and discharge current is microcomputer controlled.
At automatic mode the stated capacity is insignificant for this charging unit. Only at
manual mode range of capacity has to be selected, which meets the accumulator.
The charging unit has an automatic accumulator- control (charging voltage and char-
ging quantity).
This unit has an automatic fan control. The two fans are getting started at charge and
discharge. At stand- by every 30 minits both fans are running for about 5 minits, too.
The automatic accumulator identification immediately recognizes when an accumu-
lator is connected or disconnected, even if the accumulator is fully discharged. At
automatic mode a refresh program will be startet to rebuild these full discharged
accumulators.
Self- discharge of the accumulator is prevented by trickle charge.
