A commercially available thermometer is sufficient for this mea- surement. Measure the surface temperature at the transition space between gear unit and adapter or motor where the position of the terminal box prevents venting by the motor fan.

To do so, measure the temperature at the bottom of the gear unit. Add 10 K to the measured value. Use this temperature value to determine the lubricant change interval.
