Step 5. Setting the SCSI Address

The SCSI address is a unique address that identifies the 7210 DVD-RAM Drive to
your system unit. Use the SCSI address switch to set the SCSI address of the 7210
DVD-RAM Drive. The switch ( 1 in Figure 2) is located on the rear of the 7210
DVD-RAM Drive. Figure 2 also shows the audio jacks 2 , SCSI bus cable
connectors 3 , cooling fan 4 , and power cable connector 5 .
Note: Do not select a SCSI address that is already in use.

RS/6000 or pSeries Systems
To set the SCSI address, press the + or − push button to set the SCSI address
switch to the address that you have previously determined in "Step 3. Assembling
the Materials" on page 4.
AS/400 or iSeries Systems
Set the SCSI address switch to 1 to ensure the 7210 DVD-RAM Drive will operate
as an installed device. If the 7210 DVD-RAM Drive is connected in a chain with
another device, such as a 7207 Tape Drive, set the tape drive SCSI address to 0.
The 7207 Tape Drive should always be connected before the 7210 DVD-RAM Drive
when chaining the devices.
To set the SCSI address, press the + or − push button so that 1 appears on the
switch.
