Avoid sudden stops and starts. Use extreme caution in any of the following
situations:
• when you are near edges or on elevated surfaces
• when driving on soft or uneven surfaces, such as grass, gravel, sand, ice, or
snow
• when you drive from an area of high traction (such as a pavement) to an
area of low traction (such as grass)
• when turning the wheelchair
• when in narrow or confined spaces
• when there are ridges that could cause the wheelchair to move in a
different direction
When you drive over an obstacle, always directly face it. You can drive over
obstacles up to 75 mm (3"). If you drive over higher obstacles, there is a
greater risk of tipping and of damage to the wheelchair. If a car lock is
installed on the wheelchair, it affects the ground clearance.
WARNING! Do not cross obstacles at an angle
When you drive downhill, additional precautions must be taken. Select the
lowest maximum speed and proceed with caution. Driving down a slope can
shift your centre of gravity forward. Release the joystick if the wheelchair is
rolling faster than you would like. This makes the wheelchair stop, and you
can descend again more slowly. Avoid sudden stops and starts. Note that the
distance required to stop will increase when you drive downhill.
When driving uphill, drive straight up the slope, if possible.
