The FORM AT button in the front panel changes the display format in the cycle of 1080i, 720p, 480p, 480i, native, variable 1, variable 2, variable 3 and Auto DVI* * modes.     5. INITIAL SETUP IM PORTANT: Check your TV ow ner’s manual for the prefered or required video format. The appropriate format should be set using the FORM AT button on the front panel of the DIRECTV ® HD Receiver. If the correct format is not selected, the on-screen display and video may not appear correctly or may not appear at all.

    8-7. Initializing the System About Initial Setup The DIRECTV ® HD Receiver is capable of receiving three types of signals; ANT, CABLE and DIRECTV ® programming (if you are a DIRECTV customer). Initial Setup lets you initialize your system to function properly w ith your dish antenna. Setup W izard W ill provide a guided sequence from dish selection (step1) to channel setup (step 5).
