MC860 MFP Setup Instructions
The MC860 MFP can be installed on a
Network or via USB.
Your MFP unit comes with two CD-ROMs: a
Printer Software CD and an MFP Software
CD.
A computer that is connected to a network
can also be connected to the MFP via USB.
To use the "pull scanning" capabilities
(i.e., starting a scan from the computer
rather than the MFP) the computer must
be directly connected to the printer via
USB and scanner software that is TWAIN-
compliant must be installed. This is only
available for Windows systems.
NOTES:
• To e-mail documents from the printer
you must install it on a TCP/IP network
and provide the address for the SMTP
and an optional POP3 server.
• To send faxes you must have an analog
PSTN telephone line connection.
• To file documents via an intranet you
must have an FTP, HTTP, or CIFS Protocol
environment and Windows 2000, XP, or
Vista or Mac OS X, HTTP, or FTP server.

Network Installation

Print the Network Information pages
1. Press the SETUP button on the printer's
Control Panel.
2. On the display screen, touch View
Information.
3. Touch Network to display the network
information.
4. Press the START button to print the
information.
Keep these pages handy as they contain
information you need to set up the printer
on your network.
Install the Network Printer Driver
(Windows)
1. Make sure the printer is attached to
the network and turned ON.

2. Insert the Printer Software CD in the
CD-ROM drive. The CD will autorun.
3. Select your language and click "Next".
4. Accept the license agreement.
5. Click "Driver Setup".
6. Click "Install Driver".
7. Select "Network Printer".
8. Select "Directly to the network using
TCP/IP".
9. Enter the IP address. The IP address
can be found on the Network
Information pages.
10. When prompted, select a printer
emulation: PS, PCL, or FAX.
11. Follow the on-screen instructions.
12. If desired, install other utilities on the
disk.
To make sure the printer driver is correctly
installed, print a page from any program.
Reinstall the driver if the installation
failed.
Install the Network Printer Driver
(Macintosh)
1. Make sure the printer is attached to
the network and turned ON.
2. Insert the Printer Software CD in the
CD-ROM drive.
3. Double-click the CD icon that appears
on the desktop.
4. Open the MAC OS X folder.
5. Select your language.
6. Select the "OSX Installer MC860 PS"
option.
7. When prompted, enter the Admin
password.
8. Accept the license agreement.
9. Click the "Mac OS X Driver" box and
click Install.
10. Follow the on-screen instructions.
When prompted, enter the IP address.
The IP address can be found on the
Network Information pages.
11. If desired, install other utilities on the
disk or click Quit.

USB Installation

Install the USB Printer Driver (Windows)
1. Use a USB cable to attach the printer
to a USB port on your computer.
2. Make sure the printer is turned ON.
3. Insert the Printer Software CD in the
CD-ROM drive. The CD will autorun.
4. Select your language and click "Next".
5. Accept the license agreement.
6. Click "Driver Setup".
7. Click "Install Driver".
8. Select "Local Printer".
9. Select "USB".
10. When prompted, select a printer
emulation: PS, PCL, or FAX.
11. If desired, install other utilities on the
disk.
To make sure the printer driver is correctly
installed, print a page from any program.
Reinstall the driver if the installation
failed.
Note that the USB driver automatically
installs the TWAIN-compliant scanner
driver.
Install the ActKey Utility (Windows-only)
Install the ActKey utility to enable one-key
touch commands from a locally connected
computer. Note: for USB connections only.
1. Insert the MFP Software CD in your CD-
ROM drive.
2. Select your language and click "Next".
3. Under the MFP Utilities, select "Install
ActKey".
4. Accept the license agreement.
5. Select a Destination Folder for ActKey.

setting up the ActKey utility.
