M3900 Series Computer Telephony Integration Adapter Guide
The M3900 Series Computer Telephony Integration Adapter (CTIA) provides an interface between
M3900 Series Digital Telephones (M3902, M3903, M3904, and M3905) and your personal computer (PC) for
first-party call control applications.
Note: Phase III firmware is required on M3905 telephones.
Note: The CTIA is not supported on the Meridian SL-100.

Connecting the
Install an Accessory Connection Module (ACM) (NTMN71xx) into your M3900 Series Digital
Telephone (M3902, M3903, M3904, and M3905) before you install the CTIA. The ACM
CTIA
provides connection capabilities between the M3900 Series Digital Telephones and the CTIA
cartridge. A wall transformer is required to connect the CTIA to an electrical outlet. Refer to
Accessory Connection Module Installation Guide for the recommended wall transformer.
To install the CTIA:
1. Insert the CTIA accessory cartridge into either the small or large port on the ACM. The

Note: The RS-232C serial cable is not included with your CTIA. The cable must have
a male DB25 connector to interface with the CTIA. The other end must be terminated
with a connector that mates with the connector on the back of your computer. Contact
your local Nortel distributor for recommended RS-232C cables.
