ENGINE TROUBLESHOOTING
If something is wrong with the engine, see the following table for the cause of the trouble and its corrective measure.
Trouble
Engine is difficult to start or will not start.
Insufficient engine power
Engine stops suddenly.
Black
Exhaust fumes are colored.
Blue white
Engine overheats.
If there are any questions about the engine, consult your local KUBOTA Dealer.

Cause
• No fuel flow.
• Air or water is in the fuel system.
• In winter, oil viscosity increases,
and engine revolution is slow.
• Battery becomes weak and the
engine does not turn over quick
enough.
• Preheat (glow plug) system trou-
ble.
• Insufficient or dirty fuel
• The air cleaner is clogged.
• Insufficient fuel
• Fuel quality is poor.
• Too much oil
• The air cleaner is clogged.
• The inside of exhaust muffler is
damped from fuel.
• Trouble of injection nozzle
• Fuel quality is poor.
• Engine overloaded.
• Low coolant level
• Loose or damaged fan belt
• Dirty radiator core or
screens
• Coolant flow route corroded.
Countermeasure
• Check the fuel tank and the fuel filter.
Replace the filter if necessary.
• Check to see if the bolt and nut of fuel-line-coupler are tight.
• Bleed the fuel system.

• Use oils of different viscosity, depending on ambient tem-
peratures.
• Use the engine-block-heater (optional).
• Clean the battery cables and terminals.
• Charge the battery.
• In cold weather, always remove the battery from the engine,
charge the battery, and store it indoors.
Install the battery on the tractor only when the tractor is go-
ing to be used.
• Check to see if the slow-blow-fuse of the preheat (glow
plug) blows.
• Check to see if the preheat (glow plug) functions in cold
weather.
• Check the fuel system.
• Clean or replace the air-cleaner-element.
• Refuel.
• Bleed the fuel system if necessary.
• Change the fuel and the fuel filter.
• Check the proper amount of oil.
• Clean or replace the air-cleaner-element.
• Check to see if the preheat (glow plug) functions in cold
weather.
• Heat the muffler by applying load to the engine.
• Check the injection nozzle.
• Change the fuel and fuel filter.
• Shift to lower the gear or reduce the load.
• Fill the cooling system to the correct level.
Check the radiator and the hoses for loose connections or
leaks.
• Adjust or replace the fan belt.

• Remove all trash.
• Flush the cooling system.
