MODELS ICB427 AND ICB427R UNIT TRAY MECHANICAL COMPONENTS
Refrigerant Valve Assembly Solenoid Removal
(Models ICB427 & ICB427R)
The solenoid is part of the refrigerant valve assembly,
which is secured to the unit tray with screws.
To remove the solenoid, it may help to slide the unit tray
out slightly, then
(See Figure 6-60):
1. With small flat-blade screwdriver, pry top of valve
solenoid housing open.
2. Disconnect electrical leads.
3. Extract the screws from the tubing side of valve
solenoid housing.
4. With a small flat-blade screwdriver, pry the bottom
of valve solenoid housing open and remove the
defective solenoid.
NOTE:
The solenoid is not sold separately. If replacing
a solenoid, the entire Refrigerant Valve Assembly must
be purchased and the solenoid removed from it.
Solenoid replacement does not require entering the
sealed system.
Condenser Fan Assembly Access and Removal
(Models ICB427 & ICB427R)
The condenser fan motor is attached to a three legged
fan bracket with screws. The right leg hooks over a
spacer on the fan shroud. The two left legs are secured
to the fan shroud with screws passing into wellnuts.
To access the condenser fan assembly, slide the unit
tray out half way and disconnect the compressor, con-
denser fan, solenoid and ground wire electrical leads.
Then continue sliding the tray out while pivoting it to
the right.
NOTE:
Move tray slowly and observe the sealed sys-
tem tubing. Care must be taken to avoid kinking any of
the tubing.
Condenser Fan Assembly Removal
(See Figure 6-61):
1. Disconnect condenser fan motor electrical leads.
2. Extract the screws from two left legs of condenser
fan bracket.
3. Unhook right condenser fan bracket leg by pushing
the assembly to the right, then lift up and out.
Condenser Fan Motor and Fan Blade Removal
(See Figure 6-61):
1. Extract screws securing motor to brackets.
2. Grab fan blade and motor.
3. Turn nut counterclockwise.
4. Pull blade from motor shaft.
