Component Access / Removal
MODEL ICB424 UNIT TRAY MECHANICAL COMPONENTS
Condenser Fan Assembly Removal (Model ICB424)
The condenser fan motor is secured to the condenser
bracket with screws. The bracket is secured to the unit
tray by screws passing up from under the unit tray into
threaded stand-offs.
To access the condenser fan assembly, the unit will
need to be pulled from its installation.
NOTE:
If removing a model ICB424 from its installa-
tion, an anti-tip bracket and a countertop bracket may
have been used to make a solid installation.
After pulling unit from its installation
1. Remove access panel from bottom back of unit.
2. Disconnect fan motor electrical leads.
3. Extract grounding screw.
4. Lean unit toward front or side, and extract bracket
mounting screws, then lift assembly from unit tray.
Refrigerant Valve Assembly Solenoid Removal
(Model ICB424)
The solenoid is part of the refrigerant valve assembly,
which is secured to the valve bracket with screws.
To access the refrigerant valve assembly, the unit will
need to be pulled from its installation.
NOTE:
If removing a model ICB424 from its installa-
tion, an anti-tip bracket and a countertop bracket may
have been used to make a solid installation.
With unit out of installation
1. Remove access panel from bottom back of unit and
door closer from bottom front corner.
2. Extract screws securing unit tray to cabinet on the
left side, and loosen screws on right side.
3. Separate cabinet from unit tray by leaning cabinet
to the right, then insert a spacer between cabinet
and unit tray (a piece of 2x4 lumber works well).
4. With small flat-blade screwdriver, pry top of valve
solenoid housing open, disconnect electrical leads.
5. Extract screws from the tubing side of valve sole-
noid housing.
6. With small flat-blade screwdriver, pry bottom of
valve solenoid housing open and remove the defec-
tive solenoid.
NOTE:
The solenoid is not sold separately. If replacing
a solenoid, the entire Refrigerant Valve Assembly must
be purchased and the solenoid removed from it.
Solenoid replacement does not require entering the
sealed system.
