Protection from harmful apps
Downloading apps from sources other than Google Play
If you want to download apps from sources other than Google Play, you must permit it explicitly.
You can fund this function in the settings of the app that is allowing the download, such as the
browser or mail program.
Settings
Allow from this source switch.
If you want to use apps classified by Google as less secure, you must permit the use of such apps
explicitly. Check Google for existing security risks.
Apps from unknown sources can represent a security risk for your smartphone.
A download can corrupt your smartphone, and personal details can be misused or go
missing.
Checking your smartphone for security threats
Google Play Protect checks apps when they are installed and checks your smartphone for secu-
rity threats. In the event Play Protect finds a potentially harmful app, you are notified.

The following actions are possible when you install an app which is not from Google Play:
Recommendation not to install the app.
Installation of the app is blocked when there is a threat to the security of the device.
Information on the app's identification is sent to Google, such as protocol information,
URLs connected to the app, the device ID, its operating system version and the IP address.
Apps installed on your smartphone are checked regularly. If a potential harmful app is detected,
the app check can take the following actions:
Recommend that you uninstall the app immediately.
Remove an app which is known to be insecure from your smartphone.
