Laser Adjust

Click the Laser Adjust tab to access the Laser Adjust screen .
Use the Laser Adjust screen to manually adjust the laser's
wavelength, to compensate for any cumulative drift . (Figure 36)
Figure 36 Laser Voltage Adjust
Laser adjustment may be required for the following reasons:
• The laser wavelength has drifted beyond the target range of
the analyzer .
• The analyzer is operating outside the recommended
temperature range .
The Laser Adjust screen displays the current gas-sample
measurement intensity profile and the corresponding
absorption frequency by dips in the profile . The vertical,
dotted lines in the same profile screen are the expected target
absorption line . When the absorption line is locked to the
dip minimum, it is referred to as Linelock . If the line and the
dip minimum are not aligned, the laser wavelength should be
shifted to have the bottom of the profile dip to center on the
dotted line, the theoretical target . To achieve this, adjust the
voltage driving the laser temperature to move the laser to the
operating wavelength .
To manually adjust the laser wavelength:
1 Click the Setup button on the Control Bar . (Figure 21)
2 Select the Laser Adjust tab at the top of the screen . (Figure
36)
3 Select the Disable Laser Frequency Lock checkbox to allow
manual control of the laser .
4 Adjust the Laser A Voltage using the arrow buttons to shift
the peaks until they are centered on their respective target
lines: Up Arrow - peaks adjust to the right; Down Arrow -
peaks adjust to the left .
5 De-select the Disable Laser Frequency Lock checkbox . The
software resumes automatic tracking and control of the
laser wavelength .
6 Click Close to exit the menu and return to the Main panel .
Figure 36 shows the laser voltage adjusted so that the
absorption peak is centered on the target line .

Service

ABB-trained field service engineers monitor the performance
of the analyzer via the Service screen . (Figure 37)
• These settings determine the level of change that could affect
measurement performance .
• The alarm threshold levels are analyzer-dependent and are set
based upon the last fixed setting .
