If the snow discharge chute or snow blowing mechanism becomes
clogged, stop the engine and use this bar to unclog them.
After unclogging, wipe the bar clean, and store it in the holders.
WARNING
Before removing clogged snow, be sure to stop the engine,
and make sure that all rotating parts have come to a
complete stop. Remove the spark plug cap from the spark
plug. Unexpected starting could cause personal injury.
PRE-OPERATION CHECK
Check the snow thrower on level ground with the engine stopped.
WARNING
To prevent accidental start-up, remove the engine switch key,
and disconnect the spark plug cap before performing the
pre-operation check. Unexpected starting could cause
personal injury.
Fuel Level
If the needle is not in the FULL position, fill the fuel tank to the level
shown.
Add fuel only while standing on the fuel tank side of the snow
thrower.
Use unleaded petrol with a Research Octane Number of 91 or higher
(a Pump Octane Number of 86 or higher).
Never use stale or contaminated petrol or an oil/petrol mixture.
Avoid getting dirt or water in the fuel tank.
Do not overfill the fuel tank (there should be no fuel in the filler neck).
After refueling, make sure the fuel tank cap is closed properly and
securely.
After refueling, tighten the fuel tank cap securely.

WARNING
Petrol is extremely flammable and is explosive under certain
conditions.
Refuel in a well-ventilated area with the engine stopped.
Do not smoke or allow flames or sparks in the area where the
engine is refueled or where petrol is stored.
Be careful not to spill fuel when refueling. Spilled fuel or fuel
vapor may ignite. If any fuel is spilled, make sure the area is
dry before starting the engine.
Avoid repeated or prolonged contact with skin or breathing of
vapor. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
NOTE: Petrol spoils very quickly depending on factors such as light
Petrol Containing Alcohol
If you decide to use a petrol containing alcohol (gasohol), be sure its
octane rating is at least as high as that recommended by Honda.
There are two types of ''gasohol'': one containing ethanol, and the
other containing methanol.
Do not use gasohol that contains more than 10% ethanol.
Do not use petrol containing more than 5% methanol (methyl or
wood alcohol) and that does not also contain co-solvents and
corrosion inhibitors for methanol.
NOTE: Fuel system damage or engine performance problems
Engine Oil Level
Inspection
With the snow thrower on a level surface, remove the oil filler cap

and wipe the dipstick clean.
Insert the dipstick into the filler neck, but do not screw it in. Remove
the dipstick and check the oil level.

If the level is low, fill to the upper limit mark on the dipstick with the
recommended oil. Do not overfill.

exposure, temperature, and time.
In worst cases, petrol can be contaminated within 30 days.
Using contaminated petrol can seriously damage the engine
(clogged carburetor, stuck valve).
Damage due to spoiled fuel is not covered by the
Distributor's Limited Warranty.
To avoid this follow these recommendations:
• Only use specified petrol.
• Use fresh petrol.
• To slow deterioration, keep petrol in a certified, sealed,
non-translucent fuel container.
• Store in a dark area away from direct sunlight.
• If long storage (more than 30 days) is foreseen, drain fuel
tank and carburetor (see
page
• Don't let snow get in the fuel tank. Water in the fuel sys-
tem can cause stalling and difficult starting.
resulting from the use of petrol that contains more alcohol
than recommended is not covered under the warranty.
Before buying petrol from an unfamiliar station, first
determine if the petrol contains alcohol, if it does, find out the
type and percentage of alcohol used.
If you notice any undesirable operating symptoms while
using a particular petrol. Switch to a petrol that you know
contains less than the recommended amount of alcohol.
