CLI Overview
The Command Line Interface (CLI) is used to manage nodes in the ETERNUS DSP. The CLI manages the local node
on which you are accessing the CLI and displays some global information about the other nodes in the ETERNUS
DSP System. The CLI is used to configure new nodes before they join a ETERNUS DSP System, set networking
parameters, reboot, and display information about the node. All storage provisioning operations are managed
through the GUI or the REST API.
Using the CLI
You can access the CLI with System Administrator user credentials. If you have not created users with the GUI or
REST API before logging in to the CLI, you must use the default username and password. Access the CLI through
an SSH connection or through a keyboard and monitor directly connected to the node. ETERNUS DSP provides
VGA, USB, and DB-9 serial ports for direct connectivity.
Accessing the CLI for the First Time
If you are accessing a new or recommended DSP node, you must log into the node with the default administrator
user credentials. You must configure at least one physical network interface before you can use a remote connec-
tion to manage the node.
To access the CLI on a new or recommended node:
1
Connect a keyboard and monitor to the node.
2
Enter the default username and password at the prompt. The default login name is admin, the
default login password is password. After a successful login, you should see the local prompt:
Local >>
•
To configure the network interfaces, see
•
When you create a ETERNUS DSP system or add a DSP node to an existing ETERNUS DSP system, the login
name and password for the node are reset.
Accessing the CLI
You can access the CLI with a monitor and keyboard directly connected to the node, or through one of the net-
work interfaces. You must have System Administrator credentials to access the CLI. At least one physical network
interface must be configured before you can use a remote connection to manage the node.
If you are using a keyboard and monitor directly connected to a DSP node, ignore the instructions for connecting
through the network interfaces. You are prompted to login to the CLI when you connect a keyboard and monitor
to the node.
To log into the CLI:
1
Open a terminal window and use SSH to connect to a node using one of the following IP
addresses:
•
One of the Management Network VIP addresses.
•
The IP address of one of the DSP node physical interfaces: ipmi, mgt1, mgt2, netA1, netA2,
netB1, or netB2.
