Support for ISI5634UPCI on CC4000 Chassis
The CC4000 has two passive backplanes with 5-volt PCI slots on them. Two 5-volt PCI slots are
on one backplane, along with the single board computer (SBC), and three 5-volt PCI slots are on
the other backplane.
The two PCI slots on the SBC backplane are keyed for 5 volts and have always supplied 5 volts
and 3.3 volts to the PCI slots. These two slots will support the ISI5634UPCI card on any revision
of CC4000 chassis.
The other backplane has three PCI slots that are keyed for 5-volt cards. The CC4000 originally
shipped without 3.3 volt supplied to the three PCI slots on this backplane. The CC4000 now ships
with 3.3 volt supplied to all five PCI slots in this chassis.
The ISI5634UPCI is a universal PCI card and will plug into the PCI slots on the CC4000, but it
does require 3.3 volts to be available on the PCI connector in order for the ISI5634UPCI modems
to function properly. The customer can determine if their CC4000 chassis will support the
ISI5634UPCI on all PCI slots by opening the front door of the chassis. If there is a label inside the
door that reads "All PCI slots in this system support 3.3 volt", then all five 5-volt PCI slots in
the chassis do have 3.3 volts routed to them and will support the ISI5634UPCI serial modem
card. If there is no label inside the front door, then the ISI5634UPCI will only function properly in
the two PCI slots on the SBC backplane.
The CC4000 chassis will only support four ISIxxxxUPCI cards. The fifth PCI slot was used for a
PCI network card but now the Ethernet card is embedded on the SBC. The bottom PCI slot on
the 3-PCI slot backplane should not be used because it will conflict with the Ethernet device
embedded on the SBC.
