8 Maintenance

The distillation unit DE-1626 needs a minimal maintenance operations. Run visual
inspections inside to locate possible losses of liquid or steam on the joints, connec-
tions, or hoses.
To avoid metal parts corrosion, dry any occasional leakage of water inside the unit.
8.1 Cleaning the unit
8.1.1
Cleaning the distillation glassware
Every day clean the distillation glassware after samples distillation. Just distillate 50ml
of distilled water for 5 or 6 minutes.
8.1.2
Chamber cleaning
The chamber and the drops collect tray must be cleaned every day just with a humid
cloth and dried, to avoid deterioration.
8.2 Inspection of hoses (weekly)
Visually check the hose condition and its connections to different components. To
avoid premature deterioration of the unit due to liquid leakage, replace as soon as
possible any hose that has any leakage or damage.
Take these following cautions for hose replacing:
• Unplug the unit from the electrical power supply.
• Try, as far as possible, (see 8.3) that the hose to remove is empty.
• Use only hoses of material indicated on 11.2.
• Use clamps as if factory assembled.
• Once the hose is replaced, it must be checked for leakages.
8.3 Preparing for transport or storage
Once the unit has been used, proper actions should be taken for transport or storage.
Initially clean the unit according to the former instructions.
8.3.1
Remove completely the water from the unit
• Emptying the water reservoir and the steam generator
1. Open the tap (4).
2. Start the unit, push «START» and then wait until the water pump empties the
water reservoir.
• Emptying the water from the cooling circuit
1. Disconnect the hose for water entry from the tap water.
2. Switch ON the unit and push «START».
Note: From this point ,actuate in a fast way to avoid overtemperature on the steam
generator.
3. Blow for the end of the output coolant water. The water will come out on the
end cap of the water in hose.
Do not ship off the unit if water has not been completly removed.
During transportation, water leakages could fall over important
