Front Panel Operation

The Calibrator is capable of supplying lethal voltages. To avoid shock hazard, do not
make connections to the output terminals when any voltage is present. Placing the
Product in Standby may not be enough to avoid shock hazard, since J could be
pushed accidentally. Push R and verify that the Calibrator is in Standby before
making connections to the output terminals.
This section explains how to operate the Calibrator from the front panel. For a description of front-panel
controls, the Display, and terminals, see Features.

Turn on the Calibrator

To prevent possible electrical shock, fire, or personal injury, make sure that the
Product is grounded before use.
Prior to powering up the Calibrator, make sure that the rear mains power switch is in the I (ON) position
and the Soft Power button is illuminated. Now push the front Soft Power button (
turns on.
When the Calibrator is powered on, it completes a self-test routine. If the self test fails, the Display
identifies an error code. For a description of error codes, see Maintenance. After the self test, the DCV
function is on screen. When you push R, the Product returns to this screen.

Warm up the Calibrator

When you turn on the Calibrator, allow a warm-up period of at least 30 minutes for the internal
components to stabilize. This ensures that the Calibrator meets or exceeds its specifications.
If you turn the Calibrator off after warm-up and then on again, allow a warm-up period of at least twice
the length of time it was turned off (maximum of 30 minutes). For example, if the Calibrator is turned off
for 10 minutes and then on again, allow a warm-up period of at least 20 minutes.

Menus

The Product user interface features keys, the knob on the right of the front panel, and the menus,
buttons, and softkeys on the Display. A sample Display is briefly explained in Table 4. The Display
contains the menu system where the Product settings are viewed, changed, and stored.

Softkeys

At the bottom of the screens for each function are blue softkeys. As with other Fluke Calibration
products, the softkey options change depending on which function is active on the Display. The
softkeys are only visible while in a function. They are not visible while in a menu.
The screens and menus are explained in the subsequent sections.
