The BIOS Setup Utility records computer's settings and infor-
mation, such as date and time, type of installed hardware, and
various configuration settings. Your computer applies the in-
formation to initialize all the components when booting up,
and basic functions of overall coordination between system
components.
If the Setup Utility configuration is incorrect, it may cause sys-
tem's malfunction. It can even keep your computer from
booting properly. If it happens, you can use the clear CMOS
jumper to clear the CMOS memory that has stored the con-
figuration information.
You can run the setup utility and manually make changes to
the configuration. You might need to do this to configure some
of the hardware that you install on or connect to the main-
board, such as the CPU, system memory, disk drives, etc.
