Child Safety

Seatbelts and seats can become hot
in a vehicle that has been closed up
in sunny weather, they could burn a
small child. Check seat covers and buckles
before you place a child anywhere near
them.
Do not leave unattended children in
your vehicle.
If your vehicle has been involved in
an accident, have the child restraints
checked by properly trained
technicians.
Note: Mandatory use of child restraints
varies from country to country.
Selecting a Child Seat
Use child restraints seats certified to
CNS11497 (or later).
Baby safety seats, child safety seats and
boosters may be designed to fit children
of different height, ages and masses.
Children who are too large for child safety
seats or boosters (as specified by your
child restraint seat manufacturers) should
always properly wear seatbelts.
Use a child restraint seat that is
recommended for the size and mass of the
child.
When installing a child restraint seat:
Review and follow the information
presented in the Child Seat Positioning
section in this chapter.
Carefully follow all of the manufacturer's
instructions included with the child
restraint seat you put in your vehicle. If you
do not install and use the child restraint
seat properly, the child may be injured in a
sudden stop or collision.
