Child Safety

On hot days, the temperature inside
the vehicle can rise very quickly.
Exposure of people or animals to
these high temperatures for even a short
time can cause death or serious heat
related injuries, including brain damage.
Small children are particularly at risk.
Seatbelts and seats may be hot in a
vehicle that is in the sunshine. The
hot seatbelts or seats may burn a
small child. Check seat covers and buckles
before you place a child anywhere near
them.
Do not leave children or pets
unattended in your vehicle. Failure
to follow this instruction could result
in personal injury or death.
If your vehicle has been involved in a
crash, have the child restraints
checked.
Secure children that are less than 150
centimeters tall or 12 years old in a suitable
child restraint in the rear seat.
Note: Mandatory use of child restraints
varies from country to country.
Note: Children should be properly
restrained in a rear seating position
whenever possible. When using a child
safety seat ensure that the rear seat back
is in the most upright position.
Only child restraints certified to ECE-R129
or ECE-R44.03 (or later) have been
tested and approved for use in your
vehicle. A choice of these are available
from an authorized dealer.
