DESCRIPTION, OPERATION, INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL ARTEX ELT 4000S System Overview Cospas-Sarsat System 406 MHz beacons transmit a distress signal to Search and Rescue (SAR) organizations, via the Cospas-Sarsat satellite system. The purpose of these beacons is to aid SAR teams in tracking and locating the beacon’s transmissions as rapidly as possible.
