example, disk errors.
Emergency/panic errors are
not distributed to all users.
LOG_ALERT

. Important
messages such as a serious
hardware error. These
messages are distributed to
all users.
LOG_CRIT
crit
Critical messages
not classified as errors, for
example, improper login
attempts. LOG_CRIT and
higher-priority messages
are sent to the system
console.
LOG_ERR
err
. Represents an
error condition, for example,
an unsuccessful disk write.
LOG_WARNING
warning
abnormal, but recoverable
conditions.
LOG_NOTICE
notice
informational message. All
messages without a priority
are mapped to this priority.
LOG_INFO
info
. Informational
messages. Normally you
can discard these
messages, but they can be
useful in analyzing the
system.
LOG_DEBUG
debug
. Debugging
messages. You can discard
these messages.
none
Excludes the selected
facility. This priority level is
useful only if preceded by
an entry with an * (asterisk)
in the same selector field.
