Troubleshooting - Moen 3301 Manual

Problem
Adjusting the temperature knob to
full hot gives cold water and
adjusting to full cold gives hot water.
When the temperature knob is set to
full hot, water temperature is too hot.
When the temperature knob is set to
full hot, water temperature is not hot
enough.
When the temperature knob is set to
full cold, water temperature is not
cold enough.
Low flow .
No flow .
Water temperature and flow change
without changing temperature or flow
knobs.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Potential Cause
Hot and cold supply lines to the
valve are reversed.
Valve needs to be recalibrated.
Contamination in the water supply
line has clogged inlet filter screens.
Contamination in the supply line has
clogged thermostatic cartridge inlet
filter screens.
Hot water supply temperature is too
low.
Valve needs to be recalibrated.
Contamination in the hot water
supply line has clogged inlet filter
screens.
Contamination in the supply line has
clogged thermostatic cartridge inlet
filter screens.
Valve needs to be recalibrated.
Contamination in the cold water
supply line has clogged inlet filter
screens.
Contamination in the supply line has
clogged thermostatic cartridge inlet
filter screens.
Contamination in the supply lines
has clogged inlet filter screens.
Check valves are malfunctioning.
Internal flow stops are closed.
Thermostatic cartridge is
malfunctioning.
Remedy
Disconnect supply lines and reverse
connections. Hot water supply line
must connect to the "Hot" connection
and cold water supply line must
connect to the "Cold" connection.
Recalibrate valve - see Recalibration
