The valve has been calibrated at the factory to provide a maximum water temperature of 115°F (46°C). Any
significant variation in the calibration, or any variation in the water supply temperatures (greater than 5°F or
3°C) from those used at the factory during the calibration procedure, can result in water temperatures that
present scalding dangers. Therefore, it is important to check the water temperature with the temperature
extension rotated to the full counterclockwise position to determine the maximum temperature of the water.
The responsibility for the proper installation and any recalibration of this valve lies with the installer.
1. To re-calibrate the valve, it is necessary to gain access to the
spindle
2. Turn the temperature extension (5) counter-clockwise until it
stops
3. Loosen and remove the screw (6) in the center of the
temperature extension by turning it counterclockwise.
4. Carefully remove the temperature extension without turning it or
the spindle behind it. You have now accessed the spindle.
5. To
increase
the
counterclockwise one or two spline(s) past the pin on the
retaining nut. To decrease the temperature, rotate the spindle
clockwise one or two spline(s) past the pin on the retaining nut.
6. Replace the temperature extension, positioned fully

Check Valve Replacement
1. To replace the check valve, repeat steps 2 thru 5 in the
Flushing procedure.
IMPORTANT: After shutting off flow using either the external supply
valve or the internal flow stops, turn the flow extension fully
counterclockwise to relieve the remaining pressure in the valve.
2. The check valve is seated inside of the brass check valve
cartridge. Test the valve by pushing on the valve disk. The disk

Recalibration Procedure
The valve is calibrated at the factory to provide a range of 85° - 115°F (29° - 46°C).
5
If another range of temperatures is desired or if the thermostatic cartridge is removed
and replaced, recalibration is necessary.
NOTE: Recalibration to a higher maximum temperature will increase the
temperature across the entire range.

counterclockwise with the tab as close as possible to the
clockwise side of the pin in the retaining nut. This should be
done without rotating the spindle. Do not install the screw at this
time.
7. Turn the flow valve/handle counterclockwise to start the flow of
water.
8. After the water temperature has stabilized, check the
temperature. This will be the new maximum temperature. If the
spindle
temperature is not suitable, remove the temperature extension
as described above and repeat this procedure to further adjust
the water temperature.
9. When the maximum temperature is acceptable, re-install the
screw in the temperature extension and tighten.
should give way when you push on it, and retract to its closed
position when you release it. A defective check valve must be
replaced.
3. To replace the check valve, use a small flat bladed screwdriver
or similar depress the valve disk, hook into the check valve and
pry it out of the brass cartridge. Insert the replacement check
valve with the arrow pointing into the brass cartridge.
4. Continue with steps 6, 7 and 8 in the Flushing procedure.
