NOTE: The mounting bracket is intended to be used as an assembly aid and to support the valve vertically after
installation. It will not prevent inward and outward movement of the valve after installation. If the piping is not sufficient
to restrain movement of the valve, then additional support of the supply lines or valve will be required to prevent
movement after installation.
WARNING: The location of the HOT and COLD water inlets are marked on the valve. The HOT and COLD supply water
must be attached as marked or the valve will not function as intended.
It is recommended that the CC (copper to copper) version of the valve be installed by soldering. When soldering, do not heat the
valve any higher than necessary to get the solder flowing. If brazing or resistance (electric) soldering is used, the cartridges must
be removed. Instructions for reinstalling and recalibrating the thermostatic cartridge may be found in the Recalibration Procedure.
Instructions for reinstalling the flow cartridge may be found in the section Flow Control Valve Cartridge Replacement.
The outlet for the shower is located at the top of the valve.
The outlet for the tub spout is located at the bottom of the valve. This lower outlet must be capped if a tub spout will not be used.

Flushing Procedure
Flushing of the valve after installation is recommended if the
supply lines were not flushed prior to installation. Flushing after
installation is accomplished by removing and cleaning the two
internal filter screens after running hot and cold water through
the valve.
1. Set the temperature extension (5) to a position midway
between the clockwise and counterclockwise stops. This
ensures that both hot and cold water will run through the
valve. Turn the flow extension (13) counterclockwise to the
full open position and allow water to flow through the tub
spout or shower head for a minimum of 1 minute. Turn the
flow off by turning the flow extension clockwise to the fully
closed position.
2. Prior to removing the filter screens, the water supply to the
valve must be shut off. This may be accomplished by
either closing valves in the supply lines or closing the
valve's internal flow stops.
3. The valve's internal flow stops are opened and closed by
turning the two large (1.125") hex nuts located in the
center of the valve. To shut off flow to the valve, turn both
large hex nuts fully clockwise. Several full turns of each
hex nut are required to fully shut off flow.

Valve Installation
1. Bend the ends of the bracket to attach to the wall studs and
position the valve depth as described above for thick or thin
walls. The bracket may also be bent in or out of the wall to
obtain the correct depth relative to the finished wall.
2. The valve may also be adjusted side-to-side by sliding the
screws along the slots in the mounting bracket. After this
adjustment, securely tighten the mounting bracket screws.
3. The mounting of the valve is now complete and the supply
lines may be soldered or threaded to the valve.

1/2" internal hex nuts,
turn CCW to remove
IMPORTANT: After shutting off flow using either the
external supply valves or the internal flow stops, turn the
flow extension (13) fully counterclockwise to relieve the
remaining water pressure in the valve.
4. The filter screens are accessed by turning and removing
the two small (1/2") internal hex nuts which are located
inside each of the larger outer hex nuts. While holding
each outer hex nut with a wrench, turn each inner hex nut
counterclockwise until it is removed.
5. If the filter screen does not come out with the check valve
cartridge (8), then remove the filter screen by inserting one
finger into each opening. Clean any material from the filter
screens by rinsing the screens with water.
6. Reinstall each filter screen onto the end of the cartridge.
Reinstall each cartridge by inserting and turning the inner
hex nut fully clockwise .
7. Prior to opening the water supply to the valve, turn the flow
extension (13) fully clockwise.
8. Open the water supply to the valve by either opening the
valves in the external piping or turning each large outer
hex nut fully counterclockwise .
