Voice Control

Impaired voice
WARNING
recognition
Your voice may change in stressful situations. This
could lead to the desired phone connection not
being established, or not being established fast
enough.
e Do not use voice control in an emergency.
e Enter the emergency number via the touch
display.
Numerous Navigation, Media and Phone functions
can be activated via voice commands. The vehicle
functions and air conditioning settings cannot be
operated via voice commands. The voice control
function adapts to the speaker and learns from the
very first dialog. The voice control function does
not support all system languages.

Activating voice control
b b The ignition is switched on.
b b There are no active phone calls.
b b ParkAssist is not active.
1. Briefly press
on the control lever
(Fig. 207).
An ascending acoustic signal is heard and the
symbol
for voice control appears on the
PCM.
2. Say the voice command.
Deactivating voice control
b b Voice control is active.
e Press
on the control lever (Fig. 207).
You will hear a descending acoustic signal.
Further voice control button functions
The
button on the control lever (Fig. 207) acti-
vates different functions, depending on the
application:
– Skips to the next part of the announcement
when pressed briefly.
– Interrupts the current dialog when pressed
briefly.
– Activated by pressing and holding Siri
recognition.

Information
– Navigation and traffic announcements are not
issued during a dialog.
– With voice control active, list entries can be se-
lected using voice control, the rotary push but-
ton or the touch display.
– If the spoken voice command is not understood
or if it cannot be interpreted, then voice control
reacts with the question Sorry, I didn't get
that. and the voice command can be repeated
after that. After the second attempt, the PCM
offers help.
Notes on communication using voice
control
Note the following points when using voice control:
– Speak clearly and at a normal volume.
– Speak louder when traveling at higher speeds.
– Stress voice commands evenly, without long
pauses in your speech.
– Do not speak when the voice control function is
voice
®
making an announcement.
– Reduce disruptive noises by closing the doors,
windows and sliding roof.
– Only the driver should issue voice commands,
as the hands-free microphone is pointed to-
ward the driver's side.
