Electrical Sockets

A
Electric shock, short
B
DANGER
circuit or fire
C
Touching conductive parts of the vehicle can lead
D
to an electric shock.
E
Improper use of the socket can result in a short
circuit. The short circuit can cause a fire.
F
e Do not leave children in the vehicle unattended.
e Do not pour liquids into the socket. If liquid gets
G
into the socket, make sure that the liquid has
H
dried without leaving any residues before using
I
the socket again.
e Do not use adapters or extension cables. Child
J
protection in the 230 volt socket is disabled
K
and the socket is live when adapters and ex-
tension cables are used.
L
M
NOTICE
N
Risk of damage to connected equipment.
O
e Only connect equipment designed for use with
P
a 230 volt socket.
e The power consumption of the connected
Q
equipment must not exceed 150 watts.
R
e Do not connect lamps that contain a fluores-
S
cent tube.
T
Information
U
Connected equipment can become warm. This
V
may cause the overcurrent shutdown mechanism
W
to prevent it from switching on.
e Disconnect the equipment from the socket and
X
reconnect it again after 10 seconds.
Y
Electrical sockets are located at the following po-
Z
sitions, depending on vehicle equipment:
106
– 12-V in front and rear center consoles
– 230-V in the rear center console
Electrical equipment can be connected to the 230-
V electrical socket using a European-standard
plug. When a plug is inserted, the light indicator on
the socket lights up green. In the event of overcur-
rent or overheating, the socket switches off and
the light indicator lights up red. The socket
switches back on again once it has cooled down.
Connecting the charging adapter
NOTICE
Danger of damage to the electrical system.
e Only use suitable charging adapters. Unsuit-
able charger adapters could damage 12 V
sockets.
Information
– The 12 Volt sockets also work when the ignition
is switched off. If the engine is not running and
the accessories are switched on, the vehicle
battery will be discharged. The power supply is
interrupted after about 30 minutes to save the
vehicle battery. If the consumer is to be
switched on again, the ignition must be
switched on again.
– The maximum load capacity of 12 Volt plug
sockets or the cigarette lighter is 20 A pro-
vided no other loads are switched on. Do not
exceed 10 A per 12 volt electrical socket or
cigarette lighter if several consumers are op-
erating simultaneously.
– Unshielded devices and equipment can cause
interference to radio and TV reception as well
as vehicle electronics.
