    This chapter provides basic troubleshooting information to help you solve some common problems that might occur while setting up your blade server. A problem with the BladeCenter QS20 can relate to either the BladeCenter QS20 or the BladeCenter unit. v A blade-server problem exists if the BladeCenter unit contains more than one blade server and only one of the blade servers has the symptom.

    BladeCenter Management Module. Installing the firmware You only need to install the BladeCenter QS20 firmware if you need to do either of the following: v Upgrade to a newer version v Downgrade to an older version if there are problems with the current version The firmware for the on-board service processor can only be installed using the standard firmware update feature of the BladeCenter Management Module.

    System firmware user interface BladeCenter QS20 system firmware is an Open Firmware implementation. When you enter the system firmware user interface, you see the Open Firmware command prompt. You should only access the user interface if you intend to use one of the supported Open Firmware commands.

    Installing the IDE hard disk drive The blade server has a connector on the system board for installing a 2.5-inch integrated drive electronics (IDE) hard disk drive. The BladeCenter QS20 model comes with the IDE hard disk drive already installed.

    Replacing the battery IBM has designed this product with your safety in mind. The lithium battery must be handled correctly to avoid possible danger. If you replace the battery, you must adhere to the following instructions. Note: In the U. S., call 1-800-IBM-4333 for information about battery disposal.
