General Information
In addition to providing standard Page/Party
Handset/Speaker Amplifier with Auxiliary Jack supports the attachment of an auxiliary headset and
serves as a control interface to devices such as the relay module in a remote terminal unit (RTU)
enclosure.
Application
The Model 701-804 SmartSeries
enclosure to provide an intelligent handset for use on the GAI-Tronics multi-party system cable (system
cable) in either a standard Page/Party
that can perform the following functions:
Page and party from the integral handset or an auxiliary headset connected to the front panel
Monitor and control the handset and auxiliary connections
Supervise the local speaker
Measure the ambient noise and adjust the speaker output level
Transfer data messages and audio on the system cable
Support an optional SmartSeries

The assembly includes a handset and cradle. When the handset is lifted from the cradle or replaced in the cradle, a hookswitch (a magnetic reed switch) in the cradle signals the appropriate status to the micro-controller within the assembly.

Connector J6 on the Base- connected to the system cable, picking up the Page/Party 16 PCBA connects ac power to the Bias Power Supply PCBA and receives +5 V dc and +/-15 V dc in return.

The SmartVolume™ feature measures the ambient noise at the station’s speaker and adds the Offset Level to set the speaker amplifier gain.
