10 Network connection (applicable models only)
You can use the optional Smart dongle (sold separately) to control and monitor your
refrigerator through the Samsung Smart Home app. For more information about Samsung
Smart Home, see page 38.
NOTE
• Samsung refrigerators featuring Samsung Smart Home support both Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz
IEEE 802.11 b/g/n and Wi-Fi Direct protocols (IEEE 802.11 n is recommended).
• Recommended encryption systems include WPA/TKP.
• Wi-Fi unauthorized wireless routers may fail to connect to applicable Samsung
refrigerators.
• Wireless network may be affected by the surrounding wireless communication
environments.
Samsung Smart Home (applicable models only)
Installation
Visit the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and search for "Samsung Smart Home".
Download and install the Samsung Smart Home app provided by Samsung Electronics. To
use the app, you must insert the optional smart dongle that is sold separately.
NOTE
• The Samsung Smart Home app is available on Android 4.0 (ICS) or higher, or iOS 7.0 or
higher, and is optimized for Samsung smartphones (Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series).
• For improved performance, the Samsung Smart Home app is subject to change without
notice.
Samsung account
You are required to register your Samsung account to use the app. If you don't have a
Samsung account, follow the app's onscreen instructions to create a free Samsung account.
Getting started
1. Insert the provided Wi-Fi Dongle into the corresponding port of your smartphone.
2. Log into your Samsung account. iPhone users are required to provide the login
information each time they access the app.
3. Run the Samsung Smart Home app and access Device. Tap "+" and select the
refrigerator that you want to connect to.
