An asset is commonly a motor attached to a machine somewhere within the organization—that machine is commonly the asset’s installation. Defining exactly where that machine (and its related asset) can be found is a primary role of attributes, but they can also be used to provide other installation details. Megger Baker ADX User Guide www.megger.com...
Page 80
Best practice is to replace the asset removed with a new asset then update the installation as needed. NOTE: Most installations will have just one asset assigned. However, installations such as a store room, service center, or warehouse can have multiple assets assigned. Megger Baker ADX User Guide www.megger.com...

Surge Testing with Partial Discharge Surge Testing with Partial Discharge Partial discharge testing is an optional feature on the ADX. Contact Megger Baker Instruments support for information on adding the feature to your tester. NOTE: PD can occur from test leads to ground, or from lead to lead. Keeping test leads off of the floor and separated from each other can mitigate some issues that can affect PD test results.

The Y-axis scale to the right of the waveform display area shows PD information in millivolts. The yellow lines above and below show the PD threshold value. When spikes cross this threshold, they are counted towards the PD Event Limit. PD EVENTS are displayed in a dedicated field. Megger Baker ADX User Guide www.megger.com...
1. Surge Test must be enabled along with the leads that will be tested. 2. Define common Surge test parameters such as Target Voltage and EAR limits. 3. Set the Voltage Ramp Rate to a lower value to improve detection of the voltages associated with PD activity. Megger Baker ADX User Guide www.megger.com...

Zooming in on the front edge of the surge waveform helps you see the region where PD activity is most likely to occur. The activity shown is more representative of what the PD event counter displays. Megger Baker ADX User Guide www.megger.com...
This is also why Manual mode is used at this time. Fig 116: Surge Test screen in Manual mode for setting PD parameters. 6. Note the white vertical lines appearing; these represent the high-frequency content. The yellow horizontal lines Megger Baker ADX User Guide www.megger.com...
