Using the Training Model

Ultrasound-guided Procedures

Ultrasound-guided peripheral IV access is possible with this model, but it is not recommended since the
replacement of inserts for this model can be completed only at the factory.
If you choose to practice IV access procedures, use your normal protocol and equipment, and follow the
policies and guidelines of your institution.
CAUTION
Do not use antiseptics, such as iodine, on your model. This can cause permanent damage to
the product.
During use of this training model, users may withdraw fluid to confirm needle placement after the vessel
has been accessed. Any fluid withdrawn must be immediately re-injected to maintain the fluid level within
the model.
To re-inject fluid:
• During use, the user immediately injects any withdrawn fluid back into the model at the access
site.
• Take care not to inject any air into the model.
Note: This model cannot accommodate catheter placements. Use for Doppler ultrasound training and
initial venous access only.
