The filling rate can be increased by 25% to 50% by using long electrode extensions without changing the
current. An increased fill rate is accompanied by a decreased input. Therefore, a long electrode
extension is not recommended when a deep entry is desired.

WIDTH AND DEPTH OF WELDING POWDER

The width and depth of the grainy flux layer affect the appearance and strength of the finished seam,
as well as the welding efficiency. If the granular flux layer is too deep, the arc is too constrained and
gives a rough thread-like seam. The gases produced during welding cannot easily escape and the
surface of the molten metal deforms unevenly. If the granular layer is too shallow, the arc will not be
completely buried under the dust. Flashes and splashes will occur. There is an optimal flux depth for
any set of welding conditions. This depth can be detected gradually until the flux of welding powder is
buried until the arc is buried and flaming does not occur. The gases will then foam slowly around the
electrode, sometimes igniting. During welding, welding powder in the form of unmelted grains can be
removed a short distance from the welding zone after solidification of the molten powder. However, it
is best to leave the welding powder in place until the heat of the weld is evenly distributed throughout
the thickness of the weld.
While the weld metal is at high temperature, the welding powder should not be loosened with
difficulty. Molten welding powder is easily removed when allowed to cool. Then it can be brushed with
a little effort.
It is important that foreign materials are collected together when the welding dust is collected to
replace it. To ensure this, a sufficiently large area must be cleared on both sides of the weld joint
before dusting. If the collected welding powder contains fused particles, it should be passed through a
sieve with holes not larger than 3.2 mm and the coarse particles should be removedThe welding
powder is completely dry when packaged by the manufacturer. It should be dried by roasting after
exposure to high humidity. Moisture in the welding powder causes the weld to be porous. The
manufacturer's recommendations must be followed.

MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLE SHOOTING

Before starting the maintenance, disconnect the machine from the main and make sure
that there is no voltage on it. Maintenance can be done by the user.
All the electrical connections should be checked regularly.
Loose connections should be tightened.
Nuts and bolts in the mechanical structure of the device should be checked against loosening. Loose
nuts and bolts should be tightened with the appropriate torque.
