V O L T S / D I V Control
Vertical attenuator for channel 2 ; provides step a d -
justment of vertical sensitivity, V A R I A B L E control is
turned to the C A L position, the vertical sensitivity c a l i -
brated in 1 0 steps from 5 V / d i v to 5mV/div.
operation the control provides step adjustment of hor-
izontal sensitivity.
(D V A R I A B L E , P U L L X 5 GAIN Controls
V A R I A B L E ;
Rotation provides fine control of channel 2 vertical
sensitivity. In the fully c l o c k w i s e (CAL) position, the
vertical attenuator is calibrated. For X - Y operation,
this control serves a s the X axis attenuation fine a d -
j u s t m e n t
P U L L X 5 GAIN;
W h e n pulled out, the V O L T S / D I V setting is multiplied
by five and for X - Y operation the X - a x i s sensitivity is
multiplied accordingly. In X 5 GAIN mode, the vertical
gain is increased and the trace becomes thickness.

C H 2 $ P O S I T I O N X - Y
* C H 2 P O S I T I O N ;
Rotation adjusts vertical position of channel 2 trace.
In X - Y operation adjusts horizontal position of display.
$ C H 4 ;
Rotation adjusts vertical position of channel 4 trace
on the screen.

G l o w s w h e n channel 2 V A R I A B L E control ®
set to C A L position.
Reminds user that channel 2
measurements are not calibrated.

P U L L X 5 GAIN Indicator
Indicates that the channel 2 V A R I A B L E control is in
the pulled out position, i.e. that the channel 2 sensitiv-
ity is five times the V O L T S / D I V setting.

A C - G N D - D C S w i t c h
Three-position lever s w i t c h w h i c h operates a s fol-
lows:
A C :
Blocks dc component of channel 2 input
signal.

dc measurements.
DC:
Direct input of a c a n d dc component of
channel 2 input signal.

Used to select the basic operating modes of the o s c i -
lloscope. L E D ' s indicate w h a t mode has been select-
ed.
C H 1 :
Only the input signal to channel 1 is dis-
played a s a single trace.
C H 2 :
Only the input signal to channel 2 is dis-
played as a single trace.
DUAL:
W h e n engaged this button, if either A L T
or CHOP s w i t c h is pushed in, dual trace
mode presents traces of channel 1 ,
channel 2 input waveforms.
A D D :
Channel 1 and channel 2 input signals
are added and the s u m is displayed a s a
single trace. W h e n the C H 2 INV button
is engaged, the waveform from channel
2 is subtracted from the channel 1 w a v e -
form and the difference is displayed as a
single trace.

channel 2) or quad trace (channel 1
through channel 4 )
CHOP:
Chop s w e e p is selected regardless of
s w e e p time at approximately 2 5 0 kHz a s
dual trace (channel 1 a n d channel 2) or
quad trace (channel 1 through channel
4).
C H 2 INV:
In the NORM position (button released),
the channel 2 signal is non-inverted. In
the INV position (button engaged), the
channel 2 signal is inverted.
2 0 M H z B W : Limits the vertical bandwidth to approxi-
mately 2 0 MHz w h e n engaged this but-
ton.
N O T E :
T h e various vertical mode settings are related to hori-
zontal mode and trigger source. S e e the sections on
HORIZ D I S P L A Y and S O U R C E for a description of this
relationship.
