[ E X A M P L E ]
For the example s h o w n in Fig. 2 6 , the A S W E E P T I M E / D I V
setting is 2 /JS and the B S W E E P T I M E / D I V setting is 0.2
JUS.
Substituting the given value:
Apparent magnification ratio =
W i t h the above magnification, if the magnification ratio is
increased, delay jitter will occur.
T o achieve a stable display, cancel the S T A R T S A F T E R
D E L A Y mode and used the triggered mode of operation.
1. Perform the above steps 1 through 3.
2. Press the S L O P E s w i t c h in to cancel the S T A R T S
A F T E R D E L A Y mode and set the B S O U R C E s w i t c h to
the s a m e signal as the A trigger source.
3. Select the HORIZ D I S P L A Y s w i t c h to either A L T or B
DLY'D.
T h e apparent magnification will be the s a m e a s de-
scribed above.
If a proper B trigger signal is not applied, intensification
may not occur. If this happens, vary the signal level or
trigger with an external signal source.

Using the B s w e e p high accuray time measurements c a n
be made.
1. Apply a signal to INPUT jack and set the vertical MODE
s w i t c h to the channel to be used. Adjust the V O L T S /
DIV and the other controls if necessary to obtain an
easily observed w a v e f o r m display.
S e t the A V A R I A B L E control to CAL.
2. Adjust the A S W E E P T I M E / D I V control to display the
portion of w a v e f o r m to be measured. Pull out the B
S L O P E s w i t c h to set the S T A R T S A F T E R D E L A Y mode.
Select the HORIZ D I S P L A Y s w i t c h to A.-INT-B and a d -
just the B S W E E P T I M E / D I V control for as small a s pos-
sible an intensified region.
3. Using the y P O S I T I O N control adjust the waveform po-
sition s o a s to intersect with the center horizontal line
on the C R T screen. Use the D E L A Y T I M E M U L T control
so that the intensified portion of w a v e f o r m touches the
center horizontal line and record the setting of the D E -
L A Y T I M E M U L T control at this point.

4. U s e the D E L A Y T I M E M U L T control to adjust intensi-
fied portion to s a m e point of the second weveform.
T h e waveform period is the second dial reading minus
the first dial reading multiplied by the A S W E E P T I M E /
DIV setting.
Using the formula:
Period = (2nd dial reading - 1 s t dial reading)
x Delayed s w e e p time (A S W E E P T I M E / D I V setting)

[ E X A M P L E ]
For the example s h o w n in Fig. 2 7 , the first dial setting is
1.01 and the second is 6 . 0 4 . T h e setting of A S W E E P
T I M E / D I V setting is 2 ms.
Substituting the given value:
Period = (6.04 - 1.01) x 2 (ms) = 1 0 . 0 6 m s

T h i s method is similar to the time measurement method
and c a n be used or high accuracy pluse width measure-
ment.
1. Apply the pulse signal to INPUT jack and set the verti-
cal MODE s w i t c h to the channel to be used.
2. Use the V O L T S / D I V , V A R I A B L E and f POSITION c o n -
trols to adjust the display s u c h that the waveform is
easily observable with the center of the pulse width
coinciding with the center horizontal graduation line.
S e t the A V A R I A B L E control to C A L .
3. Set the A S W E E P T I M E / D I V control to display the por-
tion of the waveform to be measured, pulling out the B
S L O P E s w i t c h to s e t up the S T A R T S A F T E R D E L A Y
mode of display.
Select the HORIZ D I S P L A Y s w i t c h to A - I N T - B , and a d -
just the B S W E E P T I M E / D I V control for as short as pos-
sible an intensified section of waveform.
4. Using the D E L A Y T I M E M U L T control, adjust the dis-
play so that the intensified portion touches the center
horizontal graduation line of the C R T screen and record
the dial setting at this point.
